("Palate," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Services"). Information We Collect
Information you provide: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a user identifier. You may also create content such as photos, captions, and dining preferences.
Information collected with your permission: With your consent, we collect precise location data to provide location-based features such as restaurant recommendations and dining coordination.
Information collected automatically: We collect device identifiers, interaction data, and crash reports to maintain and improve our Services. This automatically collected data is not linked to your identity.
How We Use Information
We use your information to operate and provide our Services, including account management, dining recommendations, social features, and location-based functionality. We also use information to personalize your experience, improve our Services, and ensure safety and security. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate our Services, including cloud infrastructure providers and an AI service provider (Anthropic) that powers certain intelligent features. When you use AI-powered features, relevant context such as your queries, dining preferences, and general location may be shared with Anthropic for processing. We do not share sensitive personal data such as passwords or payment information with AI providers. Our service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and may not use it for their own purposes, including model training.
Your Rights
You may access, export, or delete your personal information at any time through the app or by contacting us.
California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We will verify your identity before processing requests and respond within 45 days.
Data Retention
We retain your information while your account is active and as necessary to provide our Services. Deleted content is removed from our systems within 30 days, except for anonymized or aggregated data.
Children's Privacy
Palate is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.
International Users
Our Services are operated in the United States. By using Palate, you consent to information processing in the United States.
Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we continuously work to protect your data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our Services evolve. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or via email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified policy.
